My team and I created this presentation and report to examine how aspects of brand responsibility, including commitment to social good, authenticity, resilience, empathy and courage, can be applied to better the apparel industry. We looked at three “upstream” brands, which we defined as companies that are known for their work around environmental justice, social responsibility and community impact. By taking a closer look at what makes Fair Indigo, Girlfriend Collective and KOTN successful in these areas, we identified weaknesses in one fast fashion company, Brandy Melville, that has room to improve.
We also created a B-Corp Training Program to give fast fashion brands the tools to succeed without negative repercussions regarding current practices. This would provide strategies, resources and contacts to these companies that are working towards a more sustainable, responsible future.
